Balasaheb Sangai

Mr. Magan Sangai Rukhab Sangai, popularly known as Balasaheb Sangai was born on 18 April 1933 into the affluent and well-established Sangai family. From an early age, he was nurtured with strong values and a rich cultural upbringing, which profoundly shaped his character and outlook on life.

Affectionately known as "Dada" within the Sangai family, Balasaheb was a well-wisher to all. Despite his privileged background, he chose the noble profession of teaching. His Marathi lessons were a delight to students - his speech was marked by grace, clarity, and sweetness, making his lectures so engaging that students often lost track of time.

His contributions to education were widely recognized. He was honored with the prestigious "Ideal Teacher Award" by Acharyakul in Madhan. Further, he received the highly esteemed National Teacher Award from the Government of India on 5 September 1990, presented by the then President, R. Venkataraman. This remarkable achievement brought national recognition to a small village like Anjangaon.

Balasaheb was deeply committed to the holistic development of the school. One of his most admirable qualities was his ability to identify, encourage, and nurture talent in others.

Recognizing the importance of girls education, the Sitabai Sangai Girls School was established in 1971, followed by the Sitabai Sangai Primary School in 1972 - both initiatives benefitted significantly from his vision and contribution.

He also initiated a three-day lecture series that featured eminent speakers such as Rajiv Dixit, M. G. Vaidya, Vivek Ghalasasi, and Ram Shewalkar.

Indeed, Balasaheb Sangai was a true messenger of knowledge and wisdom, whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
