Founder

Raisaheb Moti Sangai

Late Raisaheb Moti Sangai was born on 23 July 1878 into the distinguished Sangai family, renowned for its wealth, cultural refinement, and social standing. A visionary and sage-like personality, he was deeply imbued with a strong sense of social responsibility. With the noble objective of providing quality education to underprivileged students in the region, he founded the Sitabai Sangai Education Society in 1914, in revered memory of his mother.

During that period, obtaining permission from the British Government was a mandatory prerequisite for establishing a school. Despite his considerable influence within the British administration, he was strategically offered the honorary title of "Raisaheb" in lieu of the required permission. Demonstrating remarkable integrity and commitment to his cause, Moti Sangai declined the title. Through persistent efforts, unwavering determination, selflessness, idealism, and farsighted vision, he ultimately succeeded in securing official permission from the British authorities. Subsequently, after a prolonged interval of 14 years, he was conferred with the prestigious title of "Raisaheb" on 4 June 1928.

During the severe famine of 1932–1933, Raisaheb exemplified extraordinary benevolence by opening his personal granaries to provide relief to the famine-stricken and destitute population of the surrounding areas, thereby setting an enduring example of humanitarian service.

He was also privileged to serve as the first President (Mayor) of the Anjangaon Municipal Council, holding office unopposed from 28 March 1935 to 30 March 1939.

Such a noble and universally revered personality, distinguished by his magnanimity and free from enmity, stands as a timeless embodiment of selfless service and moral excellence.
